Bummer
Well, it’s not the worst thing that could happen, but it’s up there. Gus had to go back to the hospital. About a week ago he got an upset stomach, and his GI system has been in total chaos ever since. He seemed okay and he wasn’t losing weight, so everyone had a wait-and-see attitude about it.Well, we waited, and saw that Gus wasn’t getting any better. And then he started losing weight. So his surgeon said to have him admitted.
So that’s that. To make things even worse, Gus was admitted into the pediatric ward. At our specific hospital, that means he needs supervision by a parent. So Sherry is going to spend the next few days out there with the baby. She’s working, and I know she wants to spend more time with Gus, but this certainly isn’t how she wanted to do it.
Which means I’m on full-time Charlie duty. Charlie is very independent, and he doesn’t really need people for affirmation, but he does sometimes need to be hoisted to reach something. Mostly, though, he needs to be saved from himself. He’s just tall enough that he can reach it if someone leaves a steak knife on the counter. This will require eternal vigilance.
Despite all that, I’m fairly confident Charlie will survive this ordeal without him needing to be admitted alongside Gus. Fairly confident.
Anyway, if you have any prayers, happy thoughts, etc., if we haven’t already used them up, send some our way.
